Qualification -
Unit of Competency UEPOPS325 - Operate and monitor water quality monitoring systems
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate and monitor water quality monitoring systems in a power generation facility. These systems include all analytical devices used to monitor process chemical conditions. Water quality refers to thechemical, physical, biological andor radiologicalcharacteristics ofwater. Water quality is a crucial factor for avoiding corrosion and scaling of turbines, boilers and pipes in power generating plant.Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan work, operate water quality monitoring systems plant, test water quality monitoring systems plant, analyse water quality monitoring systems plant faults, monitor and inspect water quality monitoring systems plant and complete all documentation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator. Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Note: Workplace practiceThe application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Additional conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

Range is restricted to essential operating conditions and any other variables essential to the work environment.

Non-essential conditions may be found in the Companion Volume Implementation Guide.

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
